Sheep Drive and Livery Fair

On Sunday Sept 22nd the Master took the opportunity to take part in this year’s Sheep Drive and Livery Fair.

Organised by the Worshipful Company of Woolmen, this annual event supporting the Woolmen and the Lord Mayor’s Charity, is free for the public and friends and family to attend.

Many Livery Companies took part, not just to drive sheep, but with stalls demonstrating the art and craft of their trade, on the plaza around the Monument, These included the Worshipful Companies of Bakers, Basketmakers, Grocers, Clothworkers, Broderers, Leathersellers, Saddlers, Turners, Loriners, Upholders, Wheelwrights and, of course Woolmen.

Commenting on taking part in the proceedings, The Master said

“I’m so pleased we decided to do this. What a fabulous and very different way to spend a Sunday! It really is a very special event, supporting the Lord Mayor, who was here earlier and the many members and Masters from other Liveries who are here today. Needless to say, I have a hipflask of Sloe Gin (thank you, Hayman’s!)  tucked away for added sustenance and confidence before tackling those sheep!”

A huge thank you to the Master of the Woolmen and his team, and the Cadets and Members of the Young Livery who assisted and helped us on the day. A visit next year is highly recommended!
