The heritage of Heriot-Watt University dates back to 1821 since when their community of scholars were developing transformational solutions to specific global problems. Teaching in Brewing and Distilling began in 1903 which led to the establishment of the International Centre for Brewing and Distilling in 1989. Today the ICBD is part of the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences at Heriot-Watt which has an excellent research reputation and close ties with the professional and industrial world of science, engineering and technology.
