    MembershipCorporate membership

Corporate membership is a structured relationship between leading spirits businesses and The Distillers’ Company.

Bring your organisation closer to the Company

Through the programme, participating organisations become Corporate Associates and nominate senior executives to join the Company as Corporate Freemen. Those individuals can take part in the life of the Company, form relationships across the trade and contribute their experience to its work.

    Why take part?

Corporate membership can help an organisation:

    • Build closer relationships

Connect across the spirits industry and the City of London.

    • Give senior executives access

Join the Company’s professional, educational and social community.

    • Contribute insight

Share experience with industry discussion and Company life.

    • Support shared purpose

Take part in charitable, educational and civic work.

    • Create a longer-term route

Nominated executives can explore individual membership over time.

It is a relationship built around participation rather than a sponsorship package.

    How the programme works

    1. Corporate Associates — Leading companies are invited or considered for participation as Corporate Associates.

    2. Nominated executives — Under the current programme, each Corporate Associate may nominate up to three senior executives as Corporate Freemen at any one time.

    3. A three-year term — The arrangement normally lasts for three years and may be renewed for one further term. During their appointment, Corporate Freemen can attend eligible Company events and take part in relevant activities.

    4. A route to the Livery — A Corporate Freeman may choose to obtain the Freedom of the City and progress to the Livery during their term. If they do, their corporate place becomes available for another eligible executive from the organisation.

    Who is it for?

The programme is intended for established organisations with a meaningful connection to the spirits industry and an interest in the Company’s purpose. Nominated representatives should be senior people able to participate personally and contribute constructively to Company life.

Corporate membership is considered individually. Participation and nominations are subject to the Company’s approval process.

    A relationship across the industry

Corporate members add knowledge and perspective to the Company. In return, their executives join a network that reaches across producers, brand owners, educators, trade bodies and the professions that support the sector.

This exchange helps the Company remain relevant to the modern industry, and gives organisations a distinctive way to take part in its fellowship, traditions and public purpose.
