    Accessibility statement

    Version 1.1Effective 5 September 2026

    Our commitment

    The Worshipful Company of Distillers wants everyone who uses this website — members, prospective members, guests, partners and the public — to be able to find information, complete forms and take part with confidence.

    That includes people using a keyboard or assistive technology, people with low vision or colour-vision deficiency, and people who prefer reduced motion. We treat accessibility as part of how the site is designed and built, not as an afterthought.

    Our diversity and inclusion statement sets out the wider culture we are working to create. This page is about the website itself.

    Conformance target

    We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. Where it is practical, we also work towards Level AAA, for example on body-text contrast.

    This is an ongoing commitment. New pages and components are designed against that target. We review and improve existing pages when we find barriers.

    What we do to support accessibility

    As a matter of course, we:

    • use a single main heading on each page and do not skip heading levels;
    • structure pages with landmarks such as banner, navigation, main and contentinfo, and provide a skip link to the main content;
    • give every form control a visible label;
    • make interactive elements usable with a keyboard and show a clear focus indicator;
    • write meaningful text alternatives for informative images, and empty alternatives for decorative images;
    • aim for text contrast of at least 4.5:1, and at least 3:1 for large text;
    • respect prefers-reduced-motion and do not put essential information in animation only; and
    • write in clear English and keep line length comfortable to read.

    Known limitations

    Some older documents, images or third-party embeds may not yet meet the same standard as the rest of the site. If we become aware of a barrier we cannot fix immediately, we will say so and offer another way to get the information.

    The members’ area is a separate service. Accessibility of that service is not covered by this statement.

    Feedback and contact

    If you have trouble using this website, need information in a different format, or want to report an accessibility problem, please contact the Clerk’s Office. We will consider the request and reply as soon as we can during normal office hours.

    You can also use our contact form. Please include the page address and a short description of the problem.

    Preparation of this statement

    This statement was prepared for the current website and last reviewed on 30 August 2026. We will update it when the site changes in a way that affects accessibility, or when we complete a further review.
